This month’s talk about gardens in the age of chivalry was given on Tuesday 11th November by Mike Brown who has been involved with the gardens at the Prebendal Manor at Nassington, near Peterborough since 1995. The recreated medieval gardens there are the largest in Europe. There are turf seats, herbers, vines, a vegetable garden, nut walks, a pleasure park, fish ponds and a flowery meade. The gardens feature in Alan Titchmarsh’s book, “Royal Gardeners.” The medieval period that Mike covered was from 1066-1485. He spoke about different styles of gardens and gardening which took the audience all over Europe and Asia.
