This years Garden Club holiday took place on 16th-20th June 2008, when 48 members of the club went by coach to spend time looking at gardens in Northumbria.
This holiday, the 10th planned for the club by Mrs. Collis-Hastie, went smoothly as ever.
The stars of the visit were surely Cragside and Alnwick, but the small private gardens at Bide-a-Wee and the Gardener’s Cottage near Morpeth were beautiful and very much appreciated. The RSA gardens at Harlow Carr were visited on the way to Northumbria and Newby Hall on the return journey.
There was also opportunity to see the Sage Concert Hall and Convention Centre and the Gateshead Millennium Bridge. There’s a lot to see in the North.
