The October meeting of Ticknall Garden Club saw the advent of John Gregory whose talk was entitled ”Flower Power Plus.” This was his third visit to the club over the years. Previously he had spoken about shrubs.
He introduced his topic by citing the effect of flowers on the human psyche via such occasions as Valentine’s Day, weddings, birthdays, etc. Colour, shape and texture all play their part and everything is set against the enhancing and restful colour, green. He then showed many beautiful slides of flowers through the seasons with accompanying commentary.
The next meeting of the club will be on Tuesday, 11th November at 7.30pm in the Village Hall when Mike Brown from the Prebendal Manor ( Peterborough) will speak about medieval gardens as featured in Alan Titchmarsh’s book, “ Royal Gardeners.”
