Hi, I am trying to research Annie Cowlishaw Banton christened 27 Nov 1870 in Ticknall, mother is given as Mary. I think I have found her on the 1881 census with Charles Roberts famliy as Ann Banton '11' lodger in Winshill, with possibly her brother Joseph, also a lodger aged 22 and also born Ticknall. Annie marries in Feb 1894 in Lambeth. We believe that her parent weren't married. I wonder if her mother dies early? Whether there is a burial record for Mary Banton in Ticknall? Or if you may have any record of Annie?
Many thanks.

hello
I have discovered a birth for Ticknall which may be my 3x gr grandfather :-
Thomas Wootton 1808, parents William and Sarah Wootton.

On a marriage cerificate from 1852 Thomas has put father, William ,Jockey, this is his second marriage.
I also have a marriage for William Wootton and Sarah Watson 1805 Repton ,which from what I have just seen on the website Ticknall used to be part of Repton

I would be most grateful for any help you could give me

Hello dave,

For many years I have been trying to find out more about my 5th Gt Granfather, Daniel Shreeve c1750 Ticknall. There aren't any Shreeves in the village prior to him as far as I know. I wondered whether he cam to Ticknall for work at Calke Abbey, as a gardener.
If anything comes to light on the Shreeve families, I would be most interested. Thanking you for your time.
Kind regards
Margaret

I do have some info on the surname Neville but you would have to sort out for yourself if they are the actual families you are interested in. Unfortunately I cant reply direct to you through these notices. Please use the Contacts at the top of the page choose Historical Society then click on my name and send an e:mail.

Hi Dave. I Think you will find that Edward passed away in May 1826 aged 43 buried in Ticknall. He had 6 children with Elizabeth the last born in 1826. It is possible that Elizabeth moved to Calke and is on the 1841 census if this is the correct Elizabeth she passed away in 1844 at Calke but this is debatable the census ages her at 65 the burial 3 years later says 73???.
If you e:mail me at stuhwoodward@ao l.com
I will send you all the Ticknall info I have on the Hyde's
Cheers Stuart
