Scarecrow Group
The main purpose of the Scarecrow Trail is to have an annual event in the Village which is inclusive for everyone, young and all.
We are very lucky in that there are many clubs, societies, groups etc based and meeting regularly in the Village that involve local people but not one single event that everyone can contribute and enjoy.
Having visited other Village Scarecrow Trails I believed that we could host one also in Ticknall, the first being 2008.
I approached the Village Hall commitee and Parish Council who also supported the idea and so an organising committee was formed. The event was not and still is not about raising money as a Charity event, however there are inevitably funds generated from the sale of the Trail Maps and Refreshments.
Early on we decided that all monies raised would be given out to 3 organisations equally, we would prioritise local needs first. So far The Luncheon Club was formed with a contribution from the Scarecrow Trail and also now the Youth Club which is also really starting to take off.
All of this is down to some very resourceful, caring local residents who take it upon themselves to do something that benefits others.
