Magazine Review Sticky Puddings

Sticky Puddings

Guests preparing to enjoy an evening of Sticky PuddingsOn Saturday 25th April the Ticknall committee for Action Medical Research held its annual Sticky Puddings evening at Ticknall Village Hall. The hall was again full to capacity. This event has been held for the past 15 years, always raising in excess of £1000 for the charity, and this year was no exception, the final count being £1300.

Home made soup and bread rolls were served followed by a wonderful selection of puddings; bread and butter, steamed, pavlovas, fruit crumble, chocolate dessert, pies, cheesecake to mention just a few, all topped with custard and cream. A calorific delight! There was a quiz and we were entertained by a local singer Colin Jackson, who made an appearance dressed as Elvis and performed as well as the real man (well almost).

Despite the “credit crunch” our local businesses; Isobel the Florist, Melbourne Print Shop, Donington Park, the Bay Tree, Coopers Arms, Elle of Melbourne, Bare Necessities, the Co-Op Chemist, Rebecca Henry, Budgens, Root Hairdressing, Chantry Farm Shop, Swarkestone Nursery, Scaddows Farm Shop, Birds, Debenhams, Tesco’s, and the Holly Bush, were fantastically generous in their support of the raffle and helped to swell the coffers.
