Many thanks to all who attended the 'me&dee' fashion show in Ticknall Village Hall on 22nd September.
The purpose of my charity is to raise funds and give treats to anyone of any age with any life debilitating condition and the evening brought in £310. I put 10% of monies raised into an account for Darren Greenfield. He is a young man from Woodville who had his leg amputated following a road accident, and is in training for wheelchair basketball for the 2012 Olympics. There is little financial support and Darren is such a wonderful inspiration that I have 'adopted' him into my charity to raise both funds and awareness to him.
After contribution to Darren - the remaining profit from the evening will enable me to give almost three more treats - 17 have already been given this year. It is only with the support of people buying tickets and coming along - having a good time - that the charity can flourish in this way.
Many people helped on the evening, in the kitchen, around the hall with setting up and clearing up, and by being there but special thanks to the models who came along so early and worked very hard for several hours, looking wonderful in the outfits and encouraging sales. Two of the models were from the W.I. - Lorna from Melbourne and Irene Hanson from Ticknall. Their contribution to the show was much appreciated.
The next event is a Barn Dance with caller and Live Folk Music on Saturday 10th october in the Village Hall.
