Howard Drury came to the Ticknall Village Hall on Tuesday, 11th January to speak to Ticknall Garden Club about the unknown gardens of Cornwall and its people. There are many gardens there which are lovely but not well known.
Howard based his talk on the Cornwall garden holidays which he organises for people. He began with Somerset on the way, visiting Hartswood House.
From there to Ken Caro and on to Marsh Villa and Pine Lodge with its 30 acres of gardens and seven and a half thousand different plant species. The Tresillian Estate concluded the first half of the programme.
After an interval for drinks he dealt with Lamorran Gardens, Bosvigo House and the Hidden Valley Gardens among others. Access to many of these gardens is by very narrow lanes which his minibus just managed to negotiate.
The evening's presentation was with music and action and commentary and was much appreciated by a big audience.
At next month's meeting Richard Yates will speak about "Bulbs through the Year". This will be on Tuesday, February 8th at 7.30pm in Ticknall Village Hall.
