User Guide

Curious about how the Ticknall Life community magazine works? Anyone can contribute content in the form of announcements, articles, snippets of news or anything that might be of interest to the community.

The first thing to understand is that the magazine is a collaborative effort by the community in general and the content contributors in particular. First and foremost, this is about the community and community groups. Any information that you have about your group's activities is going to be of interest to readers of Ticknall Life, so if you are a member of a community group it's a great opportunity for you to get your message in front of people at zero cost. It doesn't have to be a formal long-winded treatise, just the basic information that people would need to have.

Access to the magazine content is free for all, with no obligations or restrictions, but for the magazine to succeed as an organ of community life in Ticknall, we need the active participation of at least one member from each organisation represented here. If you have news or other content for the magazine you can simply email it to us or paste it into the message panel via the CONTACT link on the main menu. However, the best way is to create an account and prepare your article using the on-line editor.

Submit content - Registration

To use the on-line editor, you need to identify yourself to the system by creating an account. Your account can be associated with the articles of your group and you will be given the opportunity to edit your group's existing articles and to create new articles. Registration is easy. Just click on 'Create an Account' at the top right of any page and fill out the little form with your choice of username and password. You will immediately be sent an email with a validation link. Click on the link to validate your email address, and that's it. All new accounts will automatically be given "author" privileges, which means that you will be able to use the on-line editor to submit items for publication to any category straight away.

Detailed Guidelines and Tips are available for registered users interested in taking part in the Ticknall Life magazine project. To access this information, please log in.

Contribute - Submit an article

Although there is a lot of detailed help available to registered users from the User Menu, you probably don't need any of it. If you have a piece that you want to submit - no matter how small or how large - you just need to create your account, log in, then click on 'Submit an article' on the User Menu. The editor screen will open, and you're away. Remember to choose a Section and a Category from the drop-down options, click on 'Save', the editor will close and you're done. Don't worry about what happens next - that's the administrator's job. Just give it a go! To start now, create an account.
