South Derbyshire District Council has frozen its share of council tax for the second successive year. Members made the decision after being offered a Government incentive to help relieve the financial burden on residents.
It means the authority’s share of council tax will remain at £150.25 a year for those in a Band D property, one of the lowest in the area. This accounts for just over 10 per cent of the total council tax bill.
With the County, Police and Fire authorities also opting for a freeze, the level of Band D council tax will remain at £1,458 for 2012/13.
Cllr Bob Wheeler, Leader of the District Council and Chairman of its Finance and Management Committee, said: “We are extremely pleased to announce there will be no Council Tax rise for a second year running.
