Maria Hanson's filming with Channel Four TV reported here in December last year has turned out to be something more than was thought at the time. We now know that the filming was for Channel 4's iconic series "Secret Millionaire", which is to be screened by Channel Four on 8 March. Tireless worker Maria's charity Me&Dee has been picked out by "Secret Millionaire" Paul Ragan for unspecified help that we may not learn about until the Channel Four programme is screened.
Maria told Ticknall Life "I had several days filming with the team here at home and at the Village Hall where they wanted to film some of those who had had treats and speak to the carers and find out how my charity worked in the village with a bit of fundraising going on too - this we covered by Ticknall Youth Club doing a charity car wash.
On the last day of the filming which was the Saturday before Christmas - Paul revealed himself as a multi-millionaire and his intention not only to help the charity financially but also to support me after finding that my health has worsened and running the charity was becoming difficult in respect of fundraising to cover the increasing nominations for treats.
I cannot disclose the amount until after the showing on channel 4. With many requests coming in now from children with brain tumours, it is a godsend."
Maria has also been nominated for the Community Championship awards - and will be on Radio Derby on Thursday afternoon at around 2.15pm.
The Channel Four programme is to be screened on Monday 8 March 2010 at 9.00 pm. Missed it? Watch it here.
