Scarecrow Trail 2010 Another Great Success

Dr Who and the TardisThe Scarecrow Trail had a superb weekend again this year with even more visitors in and around the village than last year. Previous parking and trafffic congestion were eased this year thanks to the additional parking in the field adjacent to the Village Hall.

The catering in the Village Hall was provided by the School volunteers on Saturday and the Luncheon Club on the Sunday. On both days the standard of service and quality of food was exceptional! If you like homemade cakes and scones then Ticknall should be your destination!

The Childrens entertainment and facepainting was provided by the Toddler group and volunteers, and was again very popular and well attended; every other child on the trail had a painted face! Catering was also provided on The Green by Clare and Bill Pattinson with the assistance of friends and again a superb effort from all!

As always we had the Church open all weekend (with Scarecows inside and out) so visitors could have a look around the Church and chat, again manned and supported by volunteers, a fantastic effort!

The Quizes, both Adult and Under 15's were avidly completed and competition for the prizes fiercely contended. Both winners achieved maximum points, much to the frustration of our quiz master who will have to try even harder next year with even more challenging questions!

The Scarecrow Commitee would like to pass on our thanks to all who helped make the weekend such a success and also thanks to all our visitors who made the effort to support out event. And the winners are . . .

  1. "Dr Who and the Tardis", No. 29.
  2. "TickAir (AirCrow)", No. 23
  3. "Dalek and K Nine", No. 38

The winners of the Adult and Under 15's quizes have been notified.

Charities that will benefit this year are :-

  • Help the Heroes
  • Melbourne Community Transport
  • Ticknall Village Hall (Kitchen refurbishments)

Total amount raised was £2516.13 plus an additional £150 from Geoff Holt who sold his second prize winning 'Tickair' to a visitor as a present for his Grandson . . . . a very generous additional donation!
