Ticknall Charity Me&Dee is among the unsung heroes in South Derbyshire who have been recognised for their hard work, dedication and commitment to making a difference.
Representatives from five voluntary groups were invited to the Civic Offices in Swadlincote on Thursday night where they received certificates from Cllr Neil Atkin, Chairman of South Derbyshire District Council, for their work to help vulnerable people.
Recipients included Newlands House Care Home, in Netherseal, Sight Support Derbyshire and Swadlincote and District Mencap.
Umbrella, a charity working to improve services for disabled children and their families, and Me&Dee, which helps to create special moments for people with life shortening conditions, were also recognised.
Cllr Atkin said: "These groups and individuals dedicate their time, talents and enthusiasm to helping others.
“I feel honoured to recognise the work and enormous contribution they make to supporting the residents of South Derbyshire.”
Four other voluntary groups – the Derbyshire Autism Support Group, Arthritis Care, the Campaign for Tackling Acquired Deafness (CamTAD) and the Ryder Cheshire Volunteers – will also receive certificates in the near future.
